Practical Nursing
Practical Nurses are members of the healthcare team that assess, plan, implement and evaluate preventative, rehabilitative, and restorative care under the supervision of a physician, a dentist, or a registered nurse to ensure patient comfort, understanding, or recovery.
Graduates must function as a caring practitioner, make sound judgments based on knowledge and observations, and communicate effectively with patients and healthcare team members. They work with patients to prevent and treat infections, administer medications, complete physical assessments, perform venipuncture, and many other skills associated with nursing care. As a graduate they have taken the first step toward becoming an LPN.
