Online Medical Coding
Recognizing that many adults are looking for a way to squeeze school and career preparation into a hectic schedule or pursue learning from a distance, PTI offers its Medical Coding program in two ways: as an on-ground program and as an on-line program. You choose the delivery format and schedule that best fits your lifestyle and learning style.
PTI's online Medical Coding program permits students both synchronous and asynchronous access to instructors and course materials. To reinforce progress and learning, classes are scheduled on a quarter basis and assignments must be completed within a predetermined timeframe.
Medical Coding Specialists translate verbal descriptions of diseases, injuries, and procedures into codes. At the completion of the program; students can sit for the national coding examination for either physicians' offices or hospitals.

Why should I choose PTI for Medical Coding?
Requirements
What do I need to get in?
An interest in Medical Coding and your high school diploma. No diploma? We accept GED recipients too. Ask us how you can earn yours. Schedule an appointment to meet with an admissions coordinator on our campus. If that's not possible, someone from our national team can work with you.
Schedule – When will I be in class?
- Just 12 months to earn your certificate in Medical Coding.
- To make learning from a distance possible, our Medical Coding certificate is offered online. It doesn't matter where you live, work, and play, you can study at PTI. All it takes is the desire and the dedication to log in, tune in, and turn in your assignments and projects. One more thing -- you need a computer and internet access.
- Consider PTI's on-ground Medical Coding program if you need the structure of scheduled classes, the in-person encouragement of faculty, and the security of the brick and mortar classroom at our North Fayette or Cranberry campus.
