Chromebook Pilot a Success

Chrome Book in Class Room

PTI’s pilot test of providing Chromebooks for students has been declared a success and will be expanded in 2016 announced Eileen Steffan, Vice President of Academic Affairs. The announcement came after testing the use of this technology with a number of PTI students in classes such as business, electronics, and massage over the past several months.

PTI Students Tour Lincoln Electric

A select group of Electronics and Welding students had the opportunity to visit the headquarters of Lincoln Electric in Cleveland recently. The trip, organized by Department Chair Dave Becker, gave the students a first had view of a major manufacturing plant and the opportunity to discuss career opportunities with this major employer.

Winter Portfolio Show Dazzles

Appreciative crowds gathered at PTI Thursday night for the Winter 2014 Portfolio show. This highly anticipated event is the showcase for graduating Design students to present their portfolios of work to the public. Over 31 graduating students participated and were judged in the categories of Graphic Design, Video/3D Design, and Web/Interactive Design.

Start Your Engines

On December 5 a crowd of 60 PTI students met in the Energy Technology Center to battle it out. It was the famous Battle Car Competition the Mechanical Drafting class holds regularly as part of the PTI CAD program. Cars crashed. Students cheered. And in the end one battle car was left running.

PTI Opens Energy Technology Building

PTI held a gala event, Wednesday,  for faculty, students, and staff as the new PTI Energy Technology Center was opened for the first time. The new 15, 392 – square foot facility serves as headquarter for the college’s programs in Oil & Gas Electronics, Welding Technology, and HVAC Technology. Faculty provided tours of the new Emerson Oil & Gas Lab, Welding Lab and HVAC electronics Lab as well as classrooms and offices.
