Shrieks could be heard across the entire 180-acre campus as the annual PTI Carnival spun into gear.
More than 700 students spun in circles, flipped upside down and turned every which way on the three main rides the carnival offered: the Superman, the Cobra, and the Round Up.
“It turned out to be a perfect night for the event, ” said Keith Merlino, Vice President of Student Services. “Not too hot, nice breeze and a great turnout.”
Students lined up for the cookout and dined on hamburgers and hot dogs. Specialty booths offered cotton candy, sno cones, popcorn and other carnival fare.
PJ the DJ provided dance music and the strains of the Cupid Shuffle got everyone dancing.
“Where else but at PTI can you ride on a cart propelled by toilet plungers” said one PTI student as he won a competition by being first to deliver a roll of toilet paper to a toilet seat at the end of an obstacle course literally “plunging” across the finish line sitting on a cart.
A number of games and competitions were provided by PTI faculty and staff. From putt-putt golf to ping pong toss, the events provided prizes and candy to competitors. Game booths included Wheel of Prizes, Super Softball, Corn Hole, Sand Art, High Rollers, Ladder Ball and Plunger Run. And School of Design instructor Brandon Jennings sketched caricatures.
PTI Summer Camp also was going on at PTI this week and 150 campers from across the region enjoyed the festivities and the unique environment that is PTI.
Christopher Morrison, a 2015 graduate from Norwayne High School in OH said, “I learned what it is like to be on a campus.”
Many students had their picture taken at the Photo Booth and then tagged the picture on PTI’s Facebook page. Check out the Carnival Pics album from the Photobooth on Facebook. Just CLICK HERE for the photo set. If you see yourself, tag yourself and hashtag #ptiedu on Facebook.
