PTI's annual career fair invites employers on campus to meet and potentially interview PTI students and alumni for internship and career opportunities.
Excitement at the recent annual PTI Career & Internship Fair could barely be contained - in fact the large number of employers and potential hires packed PTI’s Gallery and spilled into the halls. The school's fifth floor was buzzing as students, graduates and employers shared key information about themselves.
The number of employers in attendance grows each year as many return and spread word about the event. This year more than 150 representatives from 84 companies arrived on campus eager to promote themselves and meet 328 potential interns and new hires. One employer said, "...yours by far is the best, most professional I've ever been to in seven years of recruiting. The students were dressed well, polite, professional, mostly well spoken, prepared, the staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly. Great job!"
Future Graduates - PTI students nearing graduation and seeking internships and employment.
Alumni - Even employed grads came to network and seek opportunities for advancement.
Employers - With a low cost to attend and a free lunch, it was a great opportunity to meet PTI's soon-to-be graduates, recent graduates and alumni. Sam A., a Computer Programming student, said, "I talked with the representatives from creehan & company at the fair for about five minutes and was interviewing for an internship with them the following week. Two days later I was offered the job. My Career Development class really helped me prepare and Career Services helped me realize it's common to be nervous - they really chilled me out."
Dena C., representing Securitas, appreciated that students were advised to dress for the fair as if they were going on a job interview. "Those who were dressed appropriately made a very good impression," she said. "Also, bringing resumes was great because it aided in follow-up with interested students."
Lauren S., a repeat attendee from the Hyatt Regency Pittsburgh International Airport recognized some positive changes from last year's fair. "I thought the fair was very successful this year. Having it on one day and for the two hour time block was very smart. It allowed the time to be productive." She added,"I also liked how the students were much more professional in presentation and communication skills. Keep up the great work."
