Frequently Asked Questions – Alumni Center
Let us answer your questions and direct you to the information you need. If we don’t provide what you’re looking for, call us or use our alumni contact form.
Q: How can I get a copy of my transcript?
A: You can do that online. Just complete the form and submit. Your request should be on its way within 48 hours. All PTI student and graduate requests are processed at no charge. However, a $10 fee should accompany each request submitted by a college or university; these proceeds are donated to a student fund.
Questions? Please contact our Registrar at 412.809.5253 or 1.800.784.9675, ext. 5253.
Q: Can someone help me update my resume?
A: Certainly! You have a couple of choices.
The Writers’ Center, staffed by PTI’s General Education faculty, is open weekdays from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. Located on level 3 at the North Fayette Campus, the Center can help you update and format your resume and compose a cover letter. If the lunch hour time frame doesn’t work for you, call the Career Services Department to schedule a convenient time to come in for help.
New to the Career Services Department is Career Connect, PTI’s online career search tool. It offers graduates a wizard-based resume builder and templates for resumes, cover letters, and other job search documents. For registration information and access, contact Career Services at 412.809.5155 or 1.800.784.9675, ext. 5155.
Q: How can I get information on brush-up courses? Can anyone attend?
A: Brush-up courses are offered in the spring and in the fall to all PTI graduates – for free.
Topics change from one session to the next based on graduate requests, but cover a range of topics. Visit the Events section of this website to check on upcoming sessions or contact Alumni Coordinator Christine Ioli at ioli.christine@pti.edu to let her know what you need to brush up on and review.
Brush-up courses are open to all PTI graduates. However, you must register in advance.
Q: I’m interested in evening certification programs. What does PTI offer?
A: PTI offers evening certification programs through its Center for Certification and Adult Learning.
These are Microsoft and IT tracks that prepare students for certification exams in areas such as Microsoft Network Professional, MCITP: Database Administrator, and CompTIA A+ Service Technician. Visit the CCAL pages of this website for specific offerings or schedule a campus visit to talk with admissions.
Q: Are alumni permitted to use the computer labs?
A: We welcome graduates to the North Fayette Campus to visit, to share their latest successes – and to use the computer labs for job search and career development purposes. Regular hours of operation are 7:30 am to 10 pm Monday through Thursday; 7:30 am to 8 pm Friday; and 8 am to 4 pm Saturday.
Print Center hours are slightly different: 7:30 am to 10 pm Monday through Thursday; 7:30 am to 5 pm Friday; and closed on Saturday.
Registration through Career Services (weekdays) or Reception (weekends) is necessary to secure a user name and password valid for one day computer lab use. Contact Career Services at 412.809.5154 or 1.800.784.9675, ext. 5154 or Reception at 412.809.5100.
Graduates must adhere to the computer use and electronics communication policy posted in the computer labs – just like they did as students.
