PTI Student Ambassadors

Visiting campus is a great way to get to know a school. It helps you get a feel for the environment, the interaction between instructors and students, the local community, even the food in the cafeteria.

But the real personality of a school is its students. Emily, Theresa and Tamar greet many of our visitors. You may have the opportunity to talk to one when you visit PTI’s North Fayette Campus. Before you come, here’s a chance to get to know each of them a little better.

Meet PTI's Student Ambassadors.

Emily D.
Emily Major: Restaurant Management
Hometown: Gettysburg
Expected Graduation: October 2009
Dog or cat person: Dog, definitely

Friendly, talkative and outgoing, Emily loves the opportunity being a student ambassador gives her to get to know people, especially new students. Raised on a farm near a little town in Central PA, she was a bit apprehensive about making the move to Pittsburgh to go to school. "I was worried about the distance from my home in Gettysburg," Emily remembers. "But I fell in love with the school instantly."

"Now I am able to tell new students my story and can share my experience with them."

Emily says students often ask if the food is good while it’s the parents who focus on the job opportunities after graduation. Both are interested in whether she likes it here. "I tell them how wonderful the teachers are and how supportive the staff at PTI is."

Theresa G.
Theresa Major: Travel and Tourism
Hometown: Gibsonia
Expected Graduation: July 2009
Dog or cat person: Dog, they’re always happy to see you

At first Theresa had doubts about coming to a "tech" school, but enjoys every minute of it. "I love the hands-on experience and the people I have come to meet and know," Theresa says. "Every day is new and exciting."

Driven by goals and an all around happy person, she believes in herself and is confident in what she does. Initially worried about her performance in classes she has proven to herself that if she works hard, she can achieve great things.

"I love telling the story of my experience at PTI. When I meet new students I share that it’s okay to have doubts about situations and that it’s okay to ask for help." The students Theresa meets are interested in what goes on in classes and what the instructors are like. Parents are more interested in financial information.
